Sekania Beach

The beach Secania belongs to the community of Vassilikos and is 18 km southeast of the city. It is a quiet beach with fine, golden sand and crystal clear blue crystal waters. It is one of the main nesting turtle caretta-caretta and protected by strict national marine park and WWF. There are not umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. Many parts of the beach during the day remain closed because this is the most exquisite beach turtle to lay its eggs. For this reason the WWF in recent years bought 300 acres around this beach to protect the turtles. Is the most important nesting beach of caretta-caretta across the Mediterranean. Access is not easy since the road is in pretty bad shape.
