Navagio Beach, also known as Shipwreck Beach, is one of the most famous beaches in Zakynthos, Greece, renowned for its striking beauty. It features crystal clear waters, white sandy shores, and is home to the iconic shipwreck of the MV Panagiotis, which adds to its allure. Accessible only by boat, this secluded cove offers a stunning view against the backdrop of towering cliffs, making it a popular spot for tourists seeking picturesque landscapes.
Please note: On 16 March 2023, the Greek Tourism Ministry announced that Navagio beach is closed to the public due to extensive landslide risk. Boats are allowed to approach this world-famous beach but travellers will not be allowed go ashore or swim near and around the shipwreck for the foreseeable future.
** March 2024 update: Our team recently spoke with the Zakynthos Port Authorities, and there is still no update on the schedule for re-opening.
The journey to Navagio Shipwreck Beach is an adventure in itself, with the only access by boat from the nearby port of Porto Vromi or by driving up to a viewing platform above the beach. The stunning view from the top is worth the trip alone, with the deep blue sea contrasting against the towering cliffs and the sandy beach far below.
