Hanne Mi S. Ceramic Art Studio

I had the pleasure of visiting Hanne Mi S. Ceramic Art Studio during my trip to Zakynthos, and it was an experience that I will never forget. From the moment I stepped inside the studio, I felt a sense of warmth and creativity that was palpable.

Hanne Mi is a true master of her craft, having studied arts, crafts, and pedagogics for years before becoming a professional ceramic artist in 1990. Her studio is located on the main road in the southeastern part of Zakynthos Island, in the Vasilikos region, and it is open all year round. From her showroom, she sells her unique work directly, which includes tableware for everyday use, sculptures, tiles for the bathroom and kitchen, sinks, fountains, and much more. All of her work is made with high-quality stoneware, and her forms and colors are inspired by the simplicity of her northern homeland, Norway, spiced up with more southerly rich Mediterranean temperament and colors.

As a beginner in the world of pottery, I was nervous to book a private pottery lesson at Hanne's studio. However, both Hanne and Martin made me feel at ease, and their gentle and warm souls put me at ease immediately. Hanne was patient and encouraging, and I cannot thank her enough for the advice she gave me to take back home with me. The experience was truly unforgettable.

The workshop itself was fantastic, lasting for 3.5 hours and involving the creation of our own ceramic sculptures. I met Debbie, Martin, and other participants from different countries, and we sat outside in a beautiful place, chatting about life and creating our sculptures. The entire experience was magical, and I felt so inspired and thankful for the entire experience. I know that I will definitely be back again.

One of the things that I loved most about Hanne's studio was the passion that she exudes. She is a truly wonderful person and artist, and her passion for ceramics is infectious. The studio is located in the most beautiful place in Zakynthos, and you can spend time with your family during creative clay molding lessons. Additionally, you can buy some souvenirs that will decorate your home and will be practical in every part of the home, reminding you of this wonderful adventure with Hanne Mi and the island of Zakynthos.

During the workshop, I got to use a potter's wheel to create three items, including a bowl, a small tea light holder, and a fish. I then sat down and created smaller items by hand to stick onto the fish. Once these were dried, I painted each item with the help of the fantastic assistants. I never felt rushed throughout the entire process, and the end result was truly amazing.

Finally, I have to mention the amazing shop that Hanne has set up. It is located within the same building as the workshop, and it is filled with an incredible array of beautiful ceramics. I was mesmerized by the beautiful colors used to decorate the clay objects, and I ended up buying a delightful blue plate to remind me of the Zakynthos turquoise sea waters. It was the perfect souvenir to bring back home with me.
